Master's Blog March 23 - Spectacle Makers

I was delighted to join the Master Spectacle Maker, Mr Nigel Haig-Brown, at their Court lunch at the wonderful Apothecaries Hall in early March. Leaving behind a wet and windy London day, upon entering the hall it was like another world as the warmth of the welcome of the Company was palpable. I enjoyed chatting with a number of the Company, and their guests, before processing into the Main Hall for lunch

The sold out event had the hall just about bursting at its seams and with a lively atmosphere. The Spectacle Makers were founded in 1629 and have a rich, deep history of Livery involvement. The lunch was of a very high standard and matched with excellent wines. Upon leaving, I couldn’t help but admire the bonhomie of the Company, which epitomises the Livery movement itself. Everyone was so welcoming and it was great to feel such fellowship. I am most indented to the Master Spectacle Maker for his kind invitation.
