
Alderman Sir Alastair King DL became a Freeman of the then Guild of Entrepreneurs in June 2016, and joined the Court in November 2017. He became the Guild's Sponsoring Alderman in 2018. In 2021 he was elected as the Junior Warden and as Middle Warden in 2022. In 2025 he was one of the first Freeman Entrepreneurs to be clothed with the Livery. Owing to his service as the 696th Lord Mayor of London, Sir Alastair served two terms as Senior Warden (2023 and 2024).
After attending Oundle School, he read Law at the University of Kent before pursuing further studies in Finance at London Business School.
Qualifying as a solicitor in 1995, Sir Alastair practiced with Baker McKenzie in the City and in Asia, where he started investing in emerging markets. Appointed a senior executive at Spark Ventures (formerly NewMedia Spark plc), then managing director of Galahad Capital plc, he was CEO of Eredene Capital plc from 2005 to 2013 and Chairman of Glendevon King Asset Management from 2005 to 2016.
In 2016 he founded Naisbitt King Asset Management Limited, specialising in managing segregated portfolios of investment grade fixed income securities.
Elected in 1999 as a Common Councillor for the Ward of Queenhithe, in 2006 he was promoted Deputy and since 2016 Alastair serves as Alderman. He was the Aldermanic Sheriff for 2022/23, and Lord Mayor for 2024/25 for which his mayoral theme was "Growth Unleashed" - championing investment into scaling businesses, encouraging more assertive engagement with risk, and prospecting earnestly for international business.
In 2022 Sir Alastair was commissioned as a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London, and has wide-ranging charitable interests in education, health and sanitation. He was knighted in 2026 for services to pension reform, and the promotion of international business.
He is a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Masons, and a Past Prime Warden of his Mother Company: the Blacksmiths. He is also a Liveryman Vintner, Painter-Stainer, Broderer, Horner, Feltmaker and Arbitrator; an Honorary Liveryman of the Security Professionals' Company; and an Honorary Assistant of the Coachmakers' Company.
The Master's Consort is his wife, Florence. Lady King is a journalist as well as pursuing PhD studies in epidemiology at the University of Edinburgh. She serves as a Lance Bombardier in the British Army Reserve. Lady King champions affiliations between Livery Companies and the Armed Forces and convened a trip-party symposium on AI between the Defence Academy of the UK, and the Educators', and Entrepreneurs' Companies.
