Assistants to the Court of the Company of Entrepreneurs serve a term of five years, and, on 24th November, 2022, the Master Entrepreneur, Mrs Judy Hadden, honoured two Freemen who had served a full term on the Court.

Freeman Jenny Hogan and Founder Freeman Stephen Wheatley were appointed as Court Assistants in 2017 (16th February and 23rd November respectively), and were amongst the first Freemen to serve the then Guild of Entrepreneurs in this way. Jenny had already been co-opted to the Court in 2016 as Chair of Communications & Events when she was elected to the substantive role, and Stephen was serving on that same Committee when he was elected directly to Court. Both shouldered significant extra responsibilities following the death of the Founder & Master, Dan Doherty, in March 2016. Jenny continued in her excellent work in developing the Entrepreneurs’ Communications & Events, and Stephen went on to Chair a new Fundraising Committee - leading the rapid and significant growth in the value of the Company of Entrepreneurs Trust.
In presenting them with commemorative certificates marking their tenures, the Master said “We absolutely would not be where we are today without the time, effort, and sheer energy of you both. Your work in developing the strategy and growth of the then Guild of Entrepreneurs has been absolutely vital, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to publicly thank you both for your work.”
NOTES: The Court considers Freemen for service as Court Assistants each year following the Election Court in the Summer. An election is held at the September Court meeting, and Court Assistants take office formally at or after the Installation Court in November. Court Assistants are junior members of the governing body, and serve for five years, during which they are eligible for election as Warden/Master. All members of the Court play a leading role in the life and work of the Company of Entrepreneurs. Enquiries regarding service on Court should be directed to the Clerk.
