Retirement of David Parrott as Honorary Chaplain

The Freemen of those Medieval Craft Guilds that would become Livery Companies lived, worked, and supped around the city's ancient churches. Whilst the 21st Century Company of Entrepreneurs warmly welcomes Freemen of any faith and none, the Company has never shirked from its historical responsibility to support one of the City of London's ancient parishes.

On St Ethelburga's Day 2018, the Reverend David Parrott was formally sworn in as the then Guild's Honorary Chaplain, which heralded the Entrepreneurs' new affiliation with the church of St Lawrence Jewry next Guildhall. It was the beginning of the very happy affiliation that the Company still enjoys today. David has been a huge part of the life of the Entrepreneurs - and has frequently gone far above and beyond - especially during lockdown, when he was a familiar face at the Company’s online social gatherings. He gave successive Masters and Wardens such treasurers through his wit and wisdom over the last four years, and the Master, Mrs Judy Hadden, was, she said, very sorry to mark his retirement as the Company’s Honorary Chaplain on 7th July, 2022.

In presenting David with a commemorative certificate to marks his years in office, the Master spoke warmly of his many talents, and formally recorded his place in perpetuity as Chaplain Emeritus to the Company of Entrepreneurs.
