The "Livery assembled in Common Hall" elects two Sheriffs each Midsummer Day at Guildhall. This delightful piece of City pageantry is the first of two elections (the other being at Michaelmas to elect a Lord Mayor), and, in the summer sunshine and with all the civic member carrying posies of flowers, a colourful and highly photogenic affair. Normally, one of the Sheriffs is an Alderman, who will hope to go on to become the Lord Mayor one day; and the other, sometimes referred to as the Non-Aldermanic Sheriff, takes on this senior civic role for just one year at the Old Bailey. Crazy Golf is back in 2026! The Cartwright Cup will be contested on Wednesday 21st October 2026. We return to Puttshack at No 1 Poultry to battle it out between fourballs from 25 Livery Company teams. Freemen and guests of any faith and none are warmly invited to join the Master and Wardens at the church of St Lawrence Jewry, together with members of the Worshipful Companies of Constructors and Chartered Architects. The church will be open from 6pm, and the service begins at 6.30pm. All are welcome.
